ARTIST BIO

My journey as an artist has been a healing one, allowing me to understand myself and the world with more grace, and with more hope. I believe every day we can choose to plant the seeds for the world we want to create, and I have fallen in love with that revolutionary spark that art forms can offer. Art can change consciousness and can be a tool for liberation, and it is my goal to incorporate it into every crevice of this life we live, whether in wood burnings, murals, portraits, paintings, doodles, words, conversations, friendships, etc.

My commission fee is a sliding scale based on what my client can afford, ranging from $15/hr-$30/hr, and I offer prints for all of my pieces, also on a sliding scale based on printing costs. I believe as artists we should advocate for ourselves as workers and be compensated well, but I also believe it is critical that art be enjoyed and consumed by the masses, and want to prioritize accessibility.

Below you'll find images I co-illustrated with my life and art partner Alexis Cruz Gomez for leading edge researchers in the field of educational neuroscience. In the following sections, you'll also see my wood burnings, artwork for the restaurant Chicago Bagel Authority (including two murals and a logo), murals Alexis and I have collaborated on throughout the Valle de Mezquital in Hidalgo, a series of custom portraits, a collection of original works, and a number of pen doodles! I hope you enjoy! Feel free to contact me with any questions or interest in a commission, project, or print!

FOR EVE

I want to take Eve on a walk through my garden.
Show her the sweetest cherry tomatoes,
And plop them in her mouth like a kiss.
I want her to take all she can in her hands,
And then come back for seconds.
I want her to take the fruit from this peach tree,
For her to feel its juice dribble down her chin,
For her to close her eyes as she chews.
I want to hold her in my arms,
Tell her how proud I am of the legacy she created
And the children that eat fruit forbidden.
Tell her she can eat all the fruit she wants,
That there is enough to go around.
That I am proud she did what she could
with what she had,
That I would have eaten the fruit,
That I’m glad she did.
Rest a while, beloved, on this bed of grass.
You’ve been lost
And roaming this earth far too long
Not to make a home of it.
I want to capture her tears,
Show her how the roots of new life drink them in,
Show her all the ways to learn from the rain.
Rest, rest, rest.
We will care for the earth as she cares for us.
Rest, rest, rest.
We start tomorrow and have forever.
Rest, rest, rest.
